• Megger test armature, field coils, interpoles and brush rigging
• Test run
• Disassembly
• Bar-to-bar test – armature
• Drop-test fields
• Drop-test interpoles
• Check all mechanical fits, repair as needed 
• Bearing Housings
• Shaft Journals
• Shaft Runout
• Steam clean and bake all parts
• Turn and undercut commutator (if needed)
• Balance armature
• Replace leads, if needed
• Re-insulate armature and field coils (if needed)
• Paint interior parts
• Replace ball/roller bearings
• Replace brushes (if needed)
• Reassembly
• Final test
• Paint
